Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Refrain ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, account dashboard, and Chrome browser extension (collectively, the "Service").
1. Summary
Refrain is designed so that trading-session protection runs locally in your browser on TradingView. We collect account and billing information needed to authenticate you and manage your subscription. We do not require broker credentials, and the extension does not need remote access to your trading account to enforce your configured rules.
2. Information we collect
Account information (Clerk)
When you sign up or sign in, we use Clerk to process authentication. Clerk may collect and store information such as your email address, name (if provided), authentication identifiers, and session data. See Clerk's Privacy Policy for details on their processing.
Subscription and billing (Stripe)
If you subscribe to Refrain Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We receive and store subscription status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and billing period information in your Clerk user metadata. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Extension connection
To verify an active subscription, the extension may connect to our API using a token you generate from your account dashboard. When the extension checks entitlement, we process your user identifier, email associated with the token, and subscription status. This check confirms whether Pro features are enabled — it does not upload your trading history or chart data.
Data processed locally in the extension
The Refrain extension reads TradingView page state (such as order ticket fields, session metrics visible on the chart, and DOM elements needed for protection) to enforce rules you configure. This processing occurs in your browser. Protection settings, session counters, and preferences are stored in Chrome extension storage on your device unless you clear them.
News and calendar data
The extension may fetch publicly available economic calendar or news event data from third-party sources (for example, Finnhub or similar providers configured in the product) to power news lock windows. These requests originate from your browser and may include standard request metadata expected by those APIs.
Website usage
Our marketing site and dashboard may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security and operation. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers on refrain.pro.
Communications
If you contact us for support, we collect the information you provide (such as email) to respond or send product updates you requested.

4. How we share information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service:

5. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website and Clerk authentication use cookies and local storage necessary for sign-in sessions, security, and preferences. Stripe checkout may set cookies during payment. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may limit account features.
6. Data retention
We retain account and billing records while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, and dispute purposes. Extension tokens expire after the period stated in your dashboard (currently 90 days). You may request deletion of your account subject to retention obligations for billing records.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and extension tokens.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us at privacy@refrain.pro. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA; we do not sell personal information as defined by those laws.
9. International users
We operate from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries where our providers operate.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
